Iyanla can add the title “actressapostrophe to her resume. Recently, Iyanla had a role in the movie, The Moses Code. (Iyanla is also a lawyer and an ordained minister.) Her passion is to teach and challenge men and women to overcome life’sobstacles. Iyanla experienced sexual abuse as a teenager, lived in the projects of a major city, survived an abusive marriage and finally decided that she was finished allowing herself to be victimized. Now, Iyanla’s candid yet compassionate words touch the souls of all the men and women she meets.

On a spiritual level Iyanla’s goal is to teach other people from various lifestyles how to overcome life tragedies. As an ordained minister she is a down to earth minister that believes that every human being is “divine.apostrophe Indeed, Iyanla has taught people how life works by her ability to lead by example. Iyanla proves that it is possible to take control of your life despite trauma and adversity. She says, “I used to be just another black woman, but today, I am a child of God! This means I am unique, but I am not special. I am an ordinary person who is dedicated to doing extra ordinary things in the service of God and God’s people.apostrophe Of course, Iyanla brings a life-changing message and a dose of humor that makes people feel like they are talking with their best friend. On a lighter note, Iyanla describes herself as a grandmother and “a shoe fanatic.apostrophe In fact, Iyanla owns 80 pairs of shoes!
The evening is sure to be inspirational especially with the Abyssinian Christian Church Adult Choir opening with uplifting and joyful music.
